Frequently
Asked Questions :
Can
I get some help?:
See any of our greeters or pastors while
you are here.
We will be happy to help you in any way we
can.
My
baby is being fussy…where can I go?:
Feel free to place your child into the care
of our trained and caring Nursery workers.
You may also go into the nursery with your
baby and view the message from behind the glass.
No
really…I can come dressed like this?
The majority of folks come dressed casually
(jeans or shorts and a casual shirt).
We want you to come as you are.
If you like to dress up…then by all
means…dress up.
I
might be interested in joining…who do I talk
to?:
If
you are considering membership at Good Shepherd
Church, the next step is to attend our new members
class, 101. The class will cover basic Christian
beliefs and the biblical teachings on being part
of a church.
See one of the pastors
for information.
Can
I really have a cup of coffee?:
Yes…a muffin too if you are hungry. Refreshments and snacks are made
available every Sunday morning by the Hospitality
Team. You
are welcome to take them into the sanctuary. We do
ask that you help to keep our sanctuary clean and
neat.
Can
I get involved if I’m not a member?:
Yes,
we encourage everyone to join in serving God in
any of our ministries. Please, take a second to look at the
Ministry Opportunity Board in the foyer for
opportunities and sign up lists or check out the
‘Connections’ link on
this website. We require a background check and
yearly Child Abuse Prevention Training
for anyone working with children under 18.
Hey,
wait a second!
Where is my kid running off to?
Near the beginning of the service, children
will be invited to the front and sit on
the steps for “Lamb Time”. This is our time
for a 2-3 minute children's bible message that
coincides with the pastor's sermon for the
day. After Lamb Time, kids will be dismissed
for Sunday School. Elementary age children attend
TREC Kids
rotational Sunday school, Pre-school
children (3 & 4 year olds) will attend TREC
Tots.
5th Graders will be dismissed (2nd service only)
to go to "Grapple" our Pre-teen Sunday School/Confirmation
Class. You are welcome to follow them
to class and find out where they
are going and meet their teachers.
We’ll
do a song or two at this time; so you have a few
minutes to go up and come back down.
Parents must pick up thjeir children at class after worship. If you would like to keep
your children with you during the service, there are children’s bulletins
with coloring pages and crayons available in the
lobby.
Can
I join any adult class at anytime?
All of our adult Sunday School and Christian
Education classes are open to anyone at anytime. See the A.C.E.
flyer in the foyer for information, times, and a
short description of our classes. Feel free to visit any class you
would like…no
obligation to stay. Our ACE classes are short term
classes lasting anywhere from 8-13 weeks and we
encourage you to sign up in advance so we will
have the materials you need. There are several Sunday School
groups that meet in the morning year round.
Visitors and new classmates are always welcome!
Worship
:
Worship: Good
Shepherd Church is a place where people experience
love, laughter, friends, family, and spiritual
growth. Here you will find a casual, friendly
atmosphere, upbeat music, and messages that will
touch your heart. Good Shepherd would like to help
you reach your full
potential and live the abundant life that Christ
has planned for you.
Times:
We have two service on Sunday: 9:15 AM and
10:45 AM. Service
is approximately 1 hour.
Dress:
Dress is casual.
We are far more interested in who you are
rather than how you look.
Offerings:
We do not pass an offering plate during our
services. If
you feel moved to give to God’s mission here at
Good Shepherd, there are offering boxes at the
back of the sanctuary.
Holy
Communion: The
first Sunday of every month we
serve Holy Communion.
Everyone is welcome at the Lord's table.
You do not
have to be a member of Good Shepherd or a United
Methodist. The only requirement
is that you
come with a confessing and repentant heart.
